About La Société du Thé
We opened our doors in 1995. Our first location was tiny – barely 190 square feet (17.67 square meters). We stocked a total of 40 teas. As business continued to grow, customers would have to hold the tins in the crowded little space. We grew organically, without advertising or promotion. The experientials just found us, much like today.
Since then, we’ve moved to our present location, which is much more comfortable and allowed us the opportunity to open a salon where we serve desserts and tea – by the cup or pot – presented in both the Continental and Asian manners.
About Our Managers
Tony Ruggiero lived in an East India merchant’s house back in New England. The world of tea and vestiges of America’s colonial maritime history were all around him. During the 1700’s and 1800’s, tea and spices came to America up the alley past what would become his back door. His interest in tea was further developed and refined by sojourns in Europe and a life-long interest in oriental cosmology and culture.
